Whilst considered by many to be a convenient option, due to the risks associated with using this type of product My Chi and Me advocates the safe use of a life vest and recommends a long lead/guide rope or secure line be attached to the jacket to ensure your dog is secured on a boat or can be reached when swimming. There is a webbing handle attached to the back of the jacket to help lift your dog from the water.

The vest style life jacket buoyancy aid is designed to help keep your pet afloat but is not guaranteed as a life preserver as conditions prevail that may compromise your pet's safety despite wearing a jacket, such as waves, rip tides, currents and fast flowing water. 

It is therefore the owner’s responsibility to assess the suitability of the product in the circumstances it is worn, as factors such as the dog’s 'weight to size ratio' and liability to panic will impact the jacket's effectiveness. 

The straps on this item do adjust so please take time to make sure the jacket is a snug fit and fastened properly.

Do not use if frayed, chewed, damaged or not working properly. Do not attempt to alter the life vest or repair if not working properly.

We do not recommend the use of the life vest near other water traffic or without close supervision. The use of a life vest is entirely at the owners own risk.
